I personally await the delivery of my Vogue September issue, made famous by the film of a similar name a few years back and although my mama says I have the patience of a saint, I have to admit I love a sneak preview. You know, a little tidbit to satiate my senses! BUT when I saw the leak of this year's cover, can I say I'm a little nonplussed?
Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some JLaw, but after previous issues such as last years I feel that every subsequent September issue should be just as fantastic, right?
ON TOPIC: I really miss the consistency of seasoned models on magazine covers. Am I the only one who thinks this? Again, no hate on the Jennifer Lawrence, but I'm dying for Karlie, Joan, or Daphne to lock down some serious rotation in American publications.
I wouldn't say my hopes were completely dashed, but I was wary of what else this issue consisted of....but my surprise and awe increased triple fold up on seeing THIS editorial exclusively leaked on Visual Optimism. The title of this shoot is "Ragged Glory" and I can totally see it:
Can't help it with Edie Campbell looking like a COMPLETE badass....
What a shot of romanticism! A care-free loving vibe with still a sense of chic.
So dope! I love the incorporation of Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy, and FENDI, especially in that first flick. I am all over cross branding, and this was done well.
I also was pretty impressed with the use of Hedi Slimane's most controversial Fall 2013 collection [made even more infamous by New York Time's Cathy Horyn]. I was NOT impressed with this collection while browsing through the photos, but here I actually am enjoying the aesthetic of the pieces. I would lying if I said I've entirely changed my mind about the line, but I'll say I'm warming up to it.
SO, we get our September issues, lavish in all that is fall, and then we head straight into NYFW for Spring 2014! There is so much fashion it's going to make my head explode.
GIRD THEM LOINS!
