Did you know that when Karl Lagerfeld designed the logo for Fendi, the double F stood for FUN FURS? I'm sure plenty of you knew that, but this is news to me. It makes sense, especially since this particular collection brought itself back to the focal point of the logo-- along with some modernist twists:
SOMEBODY GRAB ME A CUP OF COCOA, I WANT TO ROLL MYSELF UP IN THESE AND TAKE A NAP.
And Karl & Venturini Fendi didn't just do fur coats. There were fur jackets, fur bags, fur bangles, fur shoes, fur glasses....even vivid shades of fox fur delicately placed on the models' heads in a punk mohawk.
Let's get one thing straight before I proceed....I do NOT support the fur industry. Although I have a penchant for all things fuzzy and I like the look of fur, I believe that the same texture and look can be pulled off easily with synthetic replicas! My opinion of Fendi's line is not particularly in favor of the use of fur, but rather the look. Get it right...DON'T ASSUME!
I love the colors of this line, solely for the fact that in a season where dark dreary colors rule, it's refreshing to see a dark purple, electric blue, even a pink [my anti-color]. Such an easy way to keep yourself warm in the fall/winter and still look like you RULE the sidewalk.
Also Karl started experimenting with something called leather feather fur, which is a fine fine fringe:
Even though the medium used in this collection isn't my favorite fabric, I'm loving it. Maybe it's my penchant for texture kicking up again, but then it's combined with my admiration that this is Karl's NINTY-SIXTH collection for the label. Damn, you gotta hand it to that man, I don't think he sleeps.
Check out the rest of the collections after the jump, and let me know what you think!
THESE GUYS LOOK A LITTLE FISHY, NAW MEAN?
THANKS KARL! YOU DA BEST.
