Frenzy Fridays: Cozy Statement Sweaters

It is currently 33 degrees in Boston, raining buckets, and blowing over 44MPH. WHAT. THE. FRICK. [got to keep it PC here]

I am not a winter person at all...give me sunshine, beaches, and the water any day. BUT unfortunately I am not Mother Nature so I have to make due with the coldness and find myself some stylish comfort:

SbDW- Fond of Friday

clockwise from the top left: 3.1 Phillip Lim [on sale!], Moschino Cheap & Chic [on sale too..yay!], Giles, Burburry Prorsum, Proenza Schouler, Ted Baker [great steal], 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang [similar here]

I think that these beauties solve two problems at once-- How can I make a bold statement AND keep my body temperature above 98 degrees? These all would look great with a pair of dark skinny jeans, some heels [some Isabel Marant wedge sneakers would do and Louboutins don't mix], and topped off with a leather jacket/scarf combo would be perfect to stay warm and to look great.

What do you think? Any statement sweaters you're swooning over? Sound off in the comments!

Spiderwebs and being genetically blessed

I don't know about you guys, but when I was in high school I really only listened to three albums: Salt n' Pepa Very Necessary, Mariah Carey Dream Box [DON'T YOU JUDGE ME], and No Doubt Tragic Kingdom
Don't Speak, Spiderwebs, Just a Girl, Excuse Me Mister....all of these were amazing songs! I was absolutely entranced, but not just by the funky beats but also because of Gwen 'I don't care what you think' Stefani. I mean come on, how could you not notice that this girl had personal style on LOCK:

......if only I had abs like that.

Two decades later, Gwen and the boys of No Doubt are back together and put out a new album Push and Shove. I haven't heard the whole album yet, mostly because I'm still flabbergasted at how good she looks.

She looks like she hasn't aged a day, and is rocking those Yves [sorry Hedi Slimane] Saint Laurent SS'13 suits. Her and the boys are featured in the January issue of Vogue, shot by Annie Leibovitz. Check out the video and marvel at the beauty!

I Dream of [Alexander] Wang

I've got a hunger, and it ain't for nutella stuffed cookies.....albeit having made these THREE times this holiday season and have licked my nutella covered hands into oblivion.

No, I am hankering for some structure and sweatpants.

Oh yes. Pre-Fall is poking it's fashionable little head out this month, which for me is not only a dream of what I will be wearing come 2013, but also a little mid-winter kick in the butt to convince me that my down parka from high school is NOT an acceptable form of outerwear.

I've admired Alexander Wang for a while for the fact that historically we can rely on him to churn out designs that are sharp to the eye while at the same time comfortable. No more of this 'fashion is pain' bullshit [unless we're talking Iris Van Herpen X United Nude...imagine walking around Manhattan in those], as Wang gives us a fun combination of structured jackets with slick tailoring details, along with more softer silhouettes that almost resemble sweatpants and sweatshirts. Exhibit A:

Love the fact that I can picture myself gallivanting around the city in these AND taking a nice nap!

I am really looking forward to seeing Wang's future collections and more importantly I am EAGER to see what he does as his newly appointed position as creative director for Balenciaga. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be a fun turn for the fashion house.

Check out more after the jump and dream with me...
